“Whoever can do good works, but does them not, commits a sin.” In keeping with this guiding theme of a story by Don Pedro Calderon, students at the Helene-Lange Secondary School have now designed a very special calendar. The revenue from the sale of the calendar benefits the Afghanistan aid project of Dr. Habib Ghamin, a physician residing in Burgfarrnbach.
At the beginning of the academic year, the students had the idea of designing twelve thematically-related linocuts for the calendar. gernBotschaft, an advertising agency that has supported Dr. Ghamin’s aid projects for years, agreed to undertake the production work, and Druckerei Tümmel the printing, free-of-charge. Approximately 750 copies of the calendar are to be sold during the coming weeks for the price of five euros. With the proceeds, Dr. Ghamin plans to support the construction of two schools in the area of Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital. “I am so happy about the involvement of the students, and I promise that all of the money – without any deductions – will reach those in need,” Dr. Ghamin said at the official presentation.
