Once again this year, gernBotschaft is supporting the Afghanistan aid work of Fürth’s general practitioner, Dr. Habib Ghamin. Since 2001, it has continuously made financial contributions because it values Ghamin’s work very highly: On the one hand, his top priority is getting all of the contributions – without any deductions – to the needy people in Afghanistan; and, on the other hand, through many difficult years and during wars and other crises, he has not abandoned his fellow countrymen.
Dr. Habib Ghamin is from Afghanistan and has now lived in Germany for almost 35 years. The bombing of his parents’ home in Kabul in 1993, during the civil war, sensitized Ghamin to the massive problems confronting his homeland. With his autonomous and self-administered aid project, which he founded in 1998, he is standing up for and helping the war victims in Afghanistan – especially children – using all of his medical and anthropological knowledge.
Thanks to his years of involvement, his courageous on-site commitment, and the establishment of aid funds and donation accounts, it has been possible for him to launch numerous projects, ranging from the supplying of food to the equipping of schools and hospitals, and even to the placement and care of orphans in homes, as well as the establishment of vocational training centers.
gernBotschaft wishes Dr. Ghamin, his helpers, and everyone benefiting from the Afghanistan aid project a Happy 2006 full of new ideas, good health, and personal safety.
