On December 15, 2005, the opening ceremony took place for the Imaging Science Institute (ISI) located in Erlangen, a project of Siemens Medical Solutions on the premises of the Erlangen University Clinic. ISI receives communications support from gernBotschaft.

An interdisciplinary research institute, ISI is primarily dedicated to the analysis of treatment processes. The goal is to improve the entire workflow, from admitting patients to releasing them, and to define optimized courses of treatment for certain symptoms. For this reason, researchers at the ISI not only have excellent medical expertise – they are also very knowledgeable about high-quality IT infrastructures and the newest generation of diagnostic systems.

To meet ISI’s high demands for communications, a competition was organized for interior design of the rooms and the creation of printed materials. gernBotschaft’s concept prevailed throughout the process, and the central walls of the ISI were discretely decorated with quotes of famous personalities – in line with the sensibilities of the users (patients, employees, training participants, and visitors).

As part of a holistic approach to communications, these quotes are also found in all print and electronic media. They reinforce the pioneering spirit of the research institute, encourage physicians and engineers to participate in interdisciplinary collaboration, and help keep the focus on the most important aspects – the patients and their health.
